The Virginia IAM Council recently held a meeting that brought together union members and leaders to discuss labor issues and political involvement. Charles Mann, president of the council, spoke about the importance of member security, fair compensation, and workplace safety. He urged members to participate in the upcoming Virginia elections, emphasizing that all major statewide offices and delegate seats will be contested.

Newly organized IAM Union members from local botanical gardens shared their experiences with unionizing efforts. They described how support from both international and state union partners, including organizations like the AFL-CIO, was instrumental in their organizing campaigns.

Speakers at the event highlighted that political engagement and voting are essential for advancing labor rights and strengthening the labor movement. The message was that supporting candidates who back labor issues is important, regardless of political party.
