UC Merced women’s soccer player Trinidad Quiroz has signed a professional contract with Necaxa Femenil, a team in Mexico’s Liga BBVA MX Femenil. She becomes the first player from the Bobcats program to reach this level of women’s football in Mexico.

Quiroz, a forward from San Jose, California, was recognized twice as an NAIA All-American and earned All-CCAA First Team honors after UC Merced’s first season competing in NCAA Division II. Over three years with the Bobcats, she started 55 games and recorded 109 career points, including 48 goals and 14 assists. Both her total points and goals are second highest in program history. She also holds the school record for game-winning goals with 20.

In 2023, Quiroz set a new single-season record for the California Pacific Conference by scoring 23 goals. That year she was named Cal Pac Player of the Year and helped lead UC Merced to its first Cal Pac Tournament Championship as well as their first victory in the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round.

Following her performance in 2023, Quiroz became the program’s first NAIA Third Team All-American and also its first CSC Academic All-American (first team). Her other career honors include being named a 2022 NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, Cal Pac Newcomer of the Year in 2022, two-time All-Cal Pac First Team selection, four-time Cal Pac Player of the Week, and CCAA Player of the Week.

During her senior year in 2025, Quiroz tied for second place in the CCAA with seven goals and four game-winning goals on her way to another All-CCAA First Team selection. She led the conference with averages of 3.5 shots per game and 1.83 shots on goal per game.

Quiroz graduated from UC Merced in December 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering.
