Southern California Edison announced on March 27 that it has extended more than 1,000 compensation offers to individuals and businesses affected by the Eaton Fire as part of its Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program. The company reported that nearly $380 million in relief has been offered to over 2,800 claimants.

The milestone marks a significant step in providing financial support to those impacted by the wildfire. The program aims to deliver assistance quickly and efficiently compared to traditional litigation processes.

Pedro J. Pizarro, president and CEO of Edison International, SCE’s parent company, said, “The Eaton Fire had a profound and lasting impact on the community. Each day we’re seeing signs of meaningful progress. This program reflects our commitment to provide quick, compassionate support and help community members take the next steps forward. Surpassing 1,000 offers is an important milestone in our efforts to support recovery.”

According to Southern California Edison’s data as of March 27: there have been 2,827 claims submitted covering nearly 8,400 individuals or entities; a total of 1,125 offers have been made covering about $380 million; and over $52 million has already been paid out to more than 400 claimants with additional payments underway. The program is voluntary and will be available until November 30.

The company stated that submitting a claim generally takes less than two hours with offers delivered within ninety days after receiving complete documentation. More than half of all offers have already been accepted by claimants so far. Payments are typically processed within thirty days once settlement conditions are met—often sooner.
