Snap Inc. announced on March 25 the launch of AI Clips in Lens Studio, a new artificial intelligence-powered feature that allows users to transform a single photo into a five-second video using a closed prompt system. The company said the feature is available to Snapchat Lens+ subscribers.

According to Snap Inc., AI Clips are designed to make AI video creation more immediate and personal for users, moving away from what it described as the often distant or technical feel of current AI video tools. The new format enables developers to build and publish photo-to-video experiences directly on Snapchat through the GenAI Suite in Lens Studio.

The company explained that each AI Clip functions as a Snapchat Lens, taking either a Snap or Camera Roll photo and converting it into an AI-generated five-second video. Unlike open-ended text-to-video tools or experimental demos, Snap Inc. said these are closed-prompt experiences intended for scale, creativity, and ongoing engagement.

Snap Inc. also highlighted that this is currently the only offering on the market combining closed-prompt AI video generation with direct photo input, broad distribution potential, and monetization opportunities for developers.

For developers participating in Lens+ Payouts, Snap Inc. noted that this new tool provides an opportunity to earn revenue from their creations by reaching engaged audiences seeking premium content.

Looking ahead, Snap Inc. indicated that it expects both users and developers will benefit from these instant and shareable experiences as part of its expanding suite of creative tools.
