Los Angeles City College named Justin Bustamonte as its Student Spotlight of the Week, according to a March 16 announcement. Bustamonte said he chose LACC for its convenient location, strong academic reputation, and supportive programs.

Bustamonte said that LACC’s resources and welcoming environment helped him transition smoothly into college life. He credited programs such as EOPS and First Year Experience with assisting him in his classes and helping pay for books. “They helped with my classes and helped pay off books that I needed,” he said. “The college is pretty small, so everything is close. I also haven’t had a bad teacher in the four semesters I’ve been here.”

Currently majoring in biology, Bustamonte is preparing to pursue a career in dental hygiene. He explained that biology provides the foundation required for dental hygiene programs at West Los Angeles College or Cerritos College. “I hope to transfer into a dental hygiene program at West Los Angeles College or Cerritos College,” he said.

Outside of academics, Bustamonte enjoys spending time on campus with friends between classes. Looking ahead, he remains motivated by both professional and personal goals. “I hope to build a successful and fulfilling career, achieve financial stability, and create a life where my hard work pays off,” Bustamonte said.

Bustamonte’s experience at LACC reflects how community colleges can offer affordable pathways and supportive environments for students pursuing their educational and career goals.
