The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) announced on Mar. 24 that new staff representatives are taking part in the union’s Foundational Skills program at the Winpisinger Center.

The initiative aims to prepare new IAM staff with essential skills to better represent and support union members. By focusing on key responsibilities, the program seeks to strengthen the ability of representatives to address member needs effectively.

According to IAM, the training covers contract enforcement, member representation, legal matters, local administration, and modern communication strategies. These areas are considered vital for those who will be working directly with members in various settings.

The Foundational Skills program is designed for a new generation of IAM leaders. It provides practical tools and knowledge necessary for success in their roles as they begin serving within the organization.

With this approach, IAM intends to ensure that its representatives are well-equipped for challenges they may face while supporting union members.
