The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is organizing public forums to gather feedback on Southern California Gas Company’s (SoCalGas) proposal to close its 43 remaining branch offices. These locations currently allow customers to pay bills, ask questions about their service, and access other in-person services.
SoCalGas has requested approval from the CPUC for these closures. The CPUC stated that input from customers at these forums will help inform their decision-making process regarding the proposal.
The public forums are scheduled as follows: on January 26, 2026, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., in-person sessions will be held at the Glendale City Council Chambers; on February 2, 2026, at the same times, in-person sessions will take place at the Santa Ana Council Chambers; and on February 6, 2026, virtual-only sessions will be available by phone or online viewing. Details for accessing the virtual forum include a toll-free number (800-857-1917), passcode (1673482#), and an online viewing option via http://www.adminmonitor.com/ca/cpuc/.
Community members can participate by attending one of these events either in person or virtually and signing up to speak. Written comments can also be submitted online through the proceeding’s Docket Card.
Those requiring accommodations such as interpretation services are encouraged to contact the CPUC’s Public Advisor’s Office at least five business days before their chosen forum date by emailing public.advisor@cpuc.ca.gov or calling toll free at 866-849-8390.
Although a quorum of Commissioners or staff may attend these forums—formally known as Public Participation Hearings—no official action will be taken during them.
The CPUC oversees utility services throughout California with a focus on consumer protection and ensuring reliable infrastructure. More information about this regulatory body is available on its website www.cpuc.ca.gov.
