The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has announced a series of public forums to gather input on the proposed transfer of control of Cox California Telcom to Charter Communications. The transaction would result in Charter taking over subsidiaries that provide cable, voice, mobile, enterprise services, commercial fiber, and managed IT services throughout California.
Public participation is a key part of the CPUC’s decision-making process for this proposal. Comments from these forums will inform the Commission as it considers whether to approve the transaction.
“No official action will be taken on this matter during the Public Forums,” according to the CPUC announcement. “While a quorum of Commissioners and/or their staff may attend the Public Forums, no official action will be taken on this matter during the Public Forums.”
The schedule includes both virtual and in-person events:
– February 4, 2026: Virtual sessions at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., accessible by phone or online.
– February 12, 2026: In-person sessions at L.A. County Library – East Los Angeles at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
– February 19, 2026: In-person sessions at National City Council Chambers at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
– February 25, 2026: Virtual sessions at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., with call-in options.
Those wishing to comment can do so by attending in person or calling into virtual forums using a toll-free number. Speakers are asked to press star one (*1), unmute their phones, record their names, and wait for their turn as announced by an operator.
Written comments can also be submitted online through the Charter-Cox Transaction proceeding’s Docket Card.
Language translation or other accommodations can be requested by contacting the CPUC’s Public Advisor’s Office via email or phone at least five business days before any forum.
More information about the ruling setting these public forums is available on the CPUC website’s Public Forum webpage. Updates on proceedings can also be received electronically by signing up through official channels.
