Jin and Kevin Chon, co-founders of Coop Sleep Goods, have attributed their company’s growth from a small startup to a national retail brand to the tools and logistics provided by Amazon. This statement was made on Amazon’s website.

“There’s no way we would be getting shelf space in stores across the country like we are today without Amazon,” said and Kevin Chon. “The first thing they say is, ‘Wow, people love you guys on Amazon.’ Nobody wanted to talk to us. Amazon has been an invaluable partner in our journey.”

Amazon has been increasingly supporting small businesses in entering traditional retail markets. By offering services such as Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), Multi-Channel Fulfillment, Amazon Lending, and Brand Analytics, the company helps sellers scale nationally and gain visibility beyond e-commerce. These resources enable entrepreneurs to expand into brick-and-mortar stores after establishing brand strength online. According to Amazon’s Small Business Empowerment Report, numerous sellers have leveraged its ecosystem to reach mainstream retail.

Independent sellers using FBA have demonstrated significant economic impact, with average annual sales exceeding $290,000 in 2024 while supporting over two million U.S. jobs. Since 2006, these businesses have shipped more than 80 billion units through FBA. Amazon reports that its per-unit shipping costs are about 70% lower than comparable premium services from major carriers.

Customer reviews and Brand Analytics are crucial for small business innovation. PowerReviews states that 84% of consumers seek ratings when shopping in-store, and 92% use mobile devices for product research. This behavior indicates how Amazon’s review system influences product design, packaging, and marketing strategies, enhancing small business competitiveness both online and in retail.

Jin and Kevin Chon founded Coop Sleep Goods in Los Angeles in 2013 with the aim of improving sleep quality through adjustable pillows and innovative bedding products. They grew the business into a recognized brand and secured a majority recapitalization with Topspin Consumer Partners in 2021. The siblings continue to serve in leadership roles shaping company strategy.

Coop Sleep Goods focuses on adjustable memory-foam pillows and sleep accessories designed for customizable comfort. Its flagship pillow has earned top consumer rankings, and the company now sells through its own website as well as Amazon. According to Capstone Partners, this reflects its mission to improve sleep quality and expand market reach.
