Jonathan Kunke, co-founder of Honeydew Sleep, said Amazon’s data tools enable small businesses to optimize strategies and better meet customer demand during Prime Day. The statement was made on Amazon’s website.

“Prime Day has become such a major retail event, so we want to make sure we have the right strategies in place to capture that demand,” said Kunke. “The data and analytics tools Amazon provides have been invaluable in helping us understand our customer behavior and make informed decisions about our Prime Day programming.”

Amazon Prime Day has grown into a significant e-commerce event, driving billions in consumer spending and offering small businesses on Amazon a major opportunity to boost sales and visibility. The event’s exclusive deals for Prime members bring record traffic, creating both growth potential and intense competition for independent sellers. It has become a key moment for innovation in pricing, packaging, and listings to capture consumer attention, according to Amazon and Adobe Analytics.

During Prime Day 2024, independent sellers—many of which are small and medium-sized businesses—sold over 200 million items worldwide, marking Amazon’s biggest Prime Day to date in terms of items sold. These independent sellers now account for more than 60% of Amazon’s total store sales, reflecting their central role in the event’s success. This underscores the critical contribution of small businesses to Amazon’s marketplace economy, according to Amazon.

Total online spending in the U.S. during Prime Day 2024 reached $14.2 billion, representing an 11% increase over 2023, with strong gains in categories such as electronics, furniture, and apparel. School-related purchases grew 216% compared to June daily averages, and kids’ apparel rose 165%, highlighting shifting consumer trends. This year-over-year growth indicates that small businesses benefited from strong demand even as larger brands also competed for consumer attention, according to Adobe Analytics.

Kunke is the co-founder and CEO of Honeydew Sleep, where he leads product design and development of ergonomic pillows and sleep solutions. Raised in a family deeply rooted in the sleep industry—his father founded The Sleep Shoppe in 1987—Kunke worked there before launching his own venture. Alongside his wife Evita, he transformed Honeydew Sleep from a small project into a recognized brand focused on improving sleep quality, according to VoyageLA and Honeydew Sleep.

Honeydew Sleep is a U.S.-based company founded by Jonathan and Evita Kunke with the mission of “changing the world through better sleep” by crafting premium pillows designed for spinal alignment and pain relief. Drawing on decades of family expertise in the mattress industry, the company emphasizes American manufacturing and high-quality materials. Its scope now includes a growing range of products and an expanding reputation in the sleep wellness sector, according to Honeydew Sleep.
