The U.S. Census Bureau will release three national reports next month on income, poverty, and health insurance coverage in the United States for 2024. The findings will be presented during an online news conference scheduled for Tuesday, September 9 at 10 a.m. EDT.

The reports—Income in the United States: 2024, Poverty in the United States: 2024, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2024—draw on data from the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC). These documents provide annual statistics to help evaluate economic trends and measure the well-being of households, families, and individuals across several key areas.

According to the Census Bureau, these reports include annual estimates related to income levels, earnings, inequality, official poverty rates as well as Supplemental Poverty Measure (SPM) rates. They also contain national-level estimates of health insurance coverage that examine trends by select characteristics.

David Waddington, chief of the Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division at the Census Bureau; Sharon Stern, assistant division chief for Employment Characteristics; Liana Fox, assistant division chief for Economic Characteristics; and Julie Iriondo, chief of Media Relations Branch in the Public Information Office will participate in presenting these findings. Iriondo will moderate the event.

A question-and-answer session is planned immediately following the presentation. Members of media outlets can ask questions by phone using audio access number 888-566-5791 with passcode 1732236. The webinar will take place on Webex by Cisco with details available at https://uscensusevents.webex.com/uscensusevents/j.php?MTID=m7e0f0fe492f905f5dbb5b500a6a5fcf7.

Shortly after the conference begins, related reports, data tables and a news release are expected to be posted to an online press kit dedicated to Income, Poverty and Health Insurance statistics.

To request interviews with subject-matter experts from the Census Bureau’s team involved in this research or for additional information about participation in the news conference or accessing its materials after publication, contact can be made through pio@census.gov or by calling 301-763-3030.
