The U.S. Census Bureau will hold a prerelease webinar on September 4, 2025, to discuss the upcoming release of the 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates. The public release of these estimates is scheduled for September 11, 2025.
The webinar aims to guide participants on how to access ACS data and resources, as well as provide advice on comparing statistics across different geographies and time periods. According to the Census Bureau, the ACS offers detailed information about various aspects of the nation’s population and housing, including language spoken at home, education levels, commuting patterns, employment status, mortgage and rent details, income levels, poverty rates, and health insurance coverage. It remains the only source for local estimates on most of its more than 40 topics.
One-year ACS statistics will be made available to embargo subscribers starting September 9 at 10 a.m. ET. These figures cover all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, congressional districts, metropolitan statistical areas, and other geographic regions with populations of at least 65,000. Embargoed access lasts until September 11 at 12:01 a.m. ET. The Census Bureau emphasizes that wire and distribution services are not permitted to distribute any embargoed news stories or data files before the official public release date and time. More details can be found in the agency’s embargo policy. All datasets will become publicly accessible by September 11 at 10 a.m. ET.
To obtain embargo access or register for the webinar event featuring Caleb Hopler from the American Community Survey Office and Jewel Jordan from the Public Information Office, interested parties can visit the registration page.
The session will include both an audio conference and an online presentation format. Attendees do not need to call in separately for audio; they can listen through their devices during the webinar. Credentialed media members and data users will have opportunities to ask questions using a Q&A feature during the event or via audio after presentations conclude.
