Cedars-Sinai announced on Mar. 13 the acquisition of the Beverly Connection shopping center, located one block east of its main medical campus on Beverly Boulevard, as part of its long-term strategy to meet the evolving healthcare needs of Los Angeles.
The move is intended to address space limitations at Cedars-Sinai’s current campus and ensure the organization can continue providing advanced care for future generations. Peter L. Slavin, MD, president and CEO of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai Health System, said, “The strategic acquisition of the Beverly Connection will provide long-term options for Cedars-Sinai to revitalize our medical campus and provide the most advanced care to our patients and the community well into the next century.” Slavin also said, “We are excited by this opportunity to shape the future of healthcare in Los Angeles and leave an enduring mark on the city’s wellbeing for generations to come.”
According to Cedars-Sinai, there will be no immediate changes at the Beverly Connection; stores and shops will continue serving customers as usual. The roughly 10-acre site adds significant space for potential expansion as Cedars-Sinai plans for its next phase.
David Wrigley, executive vice president of Finance and chief financial officer for Cedars-Sinai Health System, said, “We’re following leaders who did their homework and built an incredible medical center in the heart of Los Angeles. The Beverly Connection is a prime location that deserves thoughtful planning to ensure we best meet the needs of Los Angeles and beyond for decades to come.”
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has a long history in Los Angeles since its founding in 1902. Its current president is Thomas M. Priselac. The hospital includes a pediatric ward and serves as a training hospital. In 2022, it admitted more than 50,000 patients for treatment according to their annual report.
The acquisition reflects Cedars-Sinai’s ongoing commitment to expanding clinical care and advancing research while serving a growing population.
