California schedules wide variety of festivals and events for summer travel season

California will host a range of events in June 2025, offering activities for residents and visitors across the state. The month’s calendar includes festivals, fairs, parades, and food events from Mendocino to Palm Springs.

California State Parks Week is scheduled for June 11–15, with special programs at parks throughout the state. Pride Month celebrations are planned in major cities including Los Angeles on June 8, Sacramento on June 14–15, and San Francisco on June 28–29.

The early summer harvest season features sunflower blooms in Yolo County and fruit stands along the Fresno County Fruit Trail. Food-focused events include Carmel Culinary Week (May 30–June 7) in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Greater Palm Springs Restaurant Week (May 30–June 8), and the Tustin Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off on June 1.

Film enthusiasts can attend the Mendocino Film Festival from May 29 to June 1. Other notable cultural gatherings include Monsterpalooza in Pasadena (May 30–June 1), Sonoma County Pride (May 30–June 1), Bay Area Book Festival in Berkeley (May 31–June 1), and Outloud Music Festival in West Hollywood (May 31–June 1).

Annual fairs such as the San Mateo County Fair (May 30–June 8), Petaluma Fair (June 19–22), Conejo Valley Days in Thousand Oaks (June 19–29), and Woodies on the Wharf car show in Santa Cruz (June 19–22) return this year.

Wine and beer events are prominent throughout the month. L.A. WineFest takes place May 31 to June 1 in Long Beach; Barnsdall Park Friday Night Wine Tastings begin June 6 in Los Angeles; Taste of Sonoma is set for June 21; Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival runs from June 20 to June 22; and San Diego Brew Festival occurs on June 14.

Outdoor recreation opportunities include the Big Time Logging Jamboree in Chester on June 7, Fishin’ For $50K Trout Tournament at Big Bear Lake on June 7-8, Lost & Found Gravel Grinder bike race in Portola on June 14, Big Blue Adventures Half Marathon & 8-Miler at Palisades Tahoe on June 14, Truckee Dirt Fondo cycling event on June 28, and Pier 360 Beach Festival at Santa Monica Pier from June 28 to 29.

Music fans can attend Healdsburg Jazz Festival from June 13 to 22 or country music festival Santa Rosa Country Summer from June 27 to 29. The Solvang Music in the Park series begins on June 18.

Additional highlights include National Shopping Day festivities at outlet malls statewide from June 12 to 15; Native American Arts Festival Week at Idyllwild Arts from June 16 to 20; Black Miners Bar Juneteenth Festival at Folsom Lake Recreation Area on June 28; Relish: A Food, Wine & Spirits Experience with celebrity chefs in Newport Beach from June 27 to 29; Summer Solstice Parade & Festival in Santa Barbara from June 20 to 22; Old Santa Ynez Days during those same dates; Lavender Blue Harvest Days near Placerville over two weekends late in the month; Blues & Brews charity event in Pacifica on June 21; Crawdad Festival celebrating Cajun culture in Sacramento on June 14-15; SoulPlay wellness festival for adults only from July 12-15 at Cobb’s Mandala Wellness Center; Watermelon Festival at Hansen Dam Recreation Area near Los Angeles County on July 7-8; Palm Springs International Short Fest running from July 24-30; and more.

“Come as you are, leave a little more sparkly” is how organizers describe SoulPlay Festival’s focus on yoga, somatic healing, and dance parties. At Idyllwild Arts’ Native American Arts Festival Week, “Walk through an exhibition showcasing four artists’ murals and mixed media, listen to talks, and don’t miss the reading by Joy Harjo, the Muscogee Nation writer who has served three terms as the 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States.”

For those interested in local produce or crafts, El Dorado County’s Apple Hill area hosts Lavender Blue Harvest Days featuring lavender-infused drinks and wreath-making workshops. The Petaluma Fair celebrates both livestock competitions and regional specialties like wine and cheese.

Admission policies vary by event. Some require tickets or reservations—such as restaurant weeks where $1 per reservation supports FIND Food Bank—while others like many street fairs offer free entry but may charge for certain activities or parking.
