February in California brings a variety of events and seasonal changes, with wildflowers beginning to bloom in the desert and fruit and nut trees blossoming throughout the Central Valley. Yosemite National Park will feature its annual “firefall” phenomenon, and February 16 marks the first Free Entrance Day of 2026 at national parks.
The month includes celebrations for Black History Month, with museums, monuments, and events honoring African-American history across the state. In Los Angeles, visitors can attend exhibits at the California African American Museum or participate in the Los Angeles Black History Month Festival on February 21 at La Brea Tar Pits. San Francisco offers an African-American Freedom Trail that features stops such as the Museum of the African Diaspora and The MLK Memorial.
Lunar New Year festivities begin before February 17, marking the start of the Year of the Horse. Modesto’s almond orchards begin blooming in early February, while Fresno County’s Blossom Trail opens mid-month. Yosemite National Park expects its Firefall event between February 8–23.

Central California hosts events such as the Santa Barbara International Film Festival from February 4–14, World Ag Expo in Tulare from February 10–12, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament from February 12–15, and Whiskey Flat Days festival in Kernville from February 13–16.
Southern California features Temecula Valley Wines Barrel Tasting Weekend on January 31 to February 1; Knott’s Peanuts Celebration runs weekends through February 22; San Diego Museum Month offers half-price entry to over seventy museums throughout February; Surf City USA Marathon takes place on February 1; Griffith Park Run is also held on that day; Laguna Beach Music Festival occurs from February 2–7; Palm Springs Modernism Week runs from February 12-22; Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival is scheduled for mid-February through March 1; Genesis Invitational golf tournament returns to Los Angeles’ Riviera Country Club from February 19-22 after moving last year due to wildfires; Slamdance Film Festival is set for West Hollywood from February 19-25; Riverside Dickens Festival happens on February 21-22.
