California is offering a range of romantic experiences for couples looking to celebrate Valentine’s Day in 2026. The state features options from coastal retreats to mountain escapes, with several destinations providing special packages and unique stays.

Some resorts have romance-themed packages available. At Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa in San Diego County, the “Rancho Romance” package includes champagne, daily breakfast for two, and a $50 resort credit. Napa River Inn’s Romance Package offers chocolate-dipped strawberries, champagne, and fresh pastries delivered daily from a local bakery.

For those who prefer not to travel immediately, many destinations offer gift cards or ongoing romance packages that can be redeemed at a later date. Additionally, California-based culinary experiences are available for delivery, such as Cowgirl Creamery’s Winter Cheese Selection or Wayfare Tavern Fried Chicken. Chocolates from Parliament in Redlands or Dandelion in San Francisco are also suggested gifts. Jewelry options include pieces from Kathleen Whitaker in Los Angeles or timepieces from Vaer in Venice.

Unique accommodations highlighted include the MacCallum House in Mendocino with its historic water tower cottage and pet-friendly policies; The Ahwahnee lodge at Yosemite National Park with access to winter activities; private yurts at Treebones Resort in Big Sur; and themed suites at Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo.

The Bay Area offers Michelin-starred meals through Tock, featuring restaurants like Acquerello in San Francisco, Protégé in Palo Alto, and Madcap in San Anselmo. In Beverly Hills, the Beverly Wilshire presents the “Pretty Woman” for a Day package including luxury suite stays and exclusive experiences.

Other notable experiences include hot air balloon rides over Palm Springs with Fantasy Balloons followed by stays at Talavera Palm Springs; and proposal specials at Estancia La Jolla where staff arrange romantic settings for engagements along with celebratory amenities.

As of January 14, 2026, Highway 1 has reopened after repairs lasting three years. Travelers planning trips along this route are advised to check current road conditions on the CalTrans QuickMap before departure (https://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/).

These offerings reflect California’s broad appeal as a destination for couples seeking memorable Valentine’s Day celebrations across diverse landscapes.
