The California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) has announced that Cal EPIC has joined its statewide network. Cal EPIC is focused on advancing research and development in energy and transportation technology, with an emphasis on clean mobility and workforce training.
Lance Hastings, President & CEO of CMTA, stated, “Cal EPIC’s commitment to advancing manufacturing and mobility solutions makes them a strong addition to our network. Their presence further strengthens CMTA’s ability to advocate for innovation and effective workforce development across the state’s manufacturing sector.”
Orville Thomas, CEO of Cal EPIC, commented, “Cal EPIC is proud to join CMTA and be part of such a dynamic network of California innovators. Our work at the intersection of advanced manufacturing, energy, and transportation aligns closely with CMTA’s mission, and we look forward to collaborating with fellow members to strengthen the industry and bring clean tech manufacturing back to California.”
Cal EPIC operates the Ramp-Up Factory in Sacramento, a 25,000-square-foot facility that offers hands-on training, prototype development, and small-scale production. The organization runs programs designed to train electric-vehicle technicians as well as EV supply-equipment technicians and other roles related to green careers.
CMTA represents manufacturers who contribute about $300 billion annually—approximately 10 percent of California’s total economic output—and employ 1.3 million people in the state.
Cal EPIC acts as an accelerator for clean energy and transportation technologies by supporting research, development, and early-stage manufacturing efforts. The non-profit brings together leaders in clean technology innovation focusing on areas such as autonomous vehicles, zero-emission infrastructure, shared mobility solutions for both highway and off-highway use.
