Amazon has announced the launch of in-clinic pharmacy kiosks at medical offices in Downtown Los Angeles, West L.A., Beverly Hills, Long Beach, and West Hollywood. These kiosks will allow patients to fill prescriptions immediately after their appointments.
According to Amazon, the new Amazon Pharmacy kiosks will be introduced across the Greater Los Angeles area in December 2025. This initiative is part of Amazon’s mission to enhance healthcare accessibility. The kiosks will be located inside One Medical clinics, offering patients an opportunity to fill prescriptions right after seeing their doctor. Amazon said that by eliminating the need for a separate pharmacy visit, this system reduces friction in the care process and ensures that patients begin treatment sooner, contributing to better long-term health outcomes.
Amazon Pharmacy cites a 2024 analysis indicating that approximately 20% to 30% of prescriptions nationwide are never filled due to logistical barriers such as additional travel, wait times, or high costs. The company noted that integrating pharmacy kiosks into clinics helps close this care gap by offering on-site medication pickup. It also emphasized that this initiative complements its existing Amazon Pharmacy mail-delivery service, ensuring patients in urban areas like Los Angeles can choose between immediate or at-home access to their prescriptions.
Hannah McClellan, Vice President of Operations for Amazon Pharmacy, explained that the new in-clinic model directly addresses a key issue in patient care. “We know that when patients have to make an extra trip to the pharmacy after seeing their doctor, many prescriptions never get filled,” McClellan said. “By bringing the pharmacy directly to the point of care, we’re removing a critical barrier and helping patients start their treatment when it matters most—right away.” Her statement underscores Amazon’s commitment to patient-centered innovation and its goal of bridging the gap between diagnosis and treatment through technology-enabled healthcare access.
According to its official company overview, Amazon is one of the world’s leading technology and e-commerce companies, employing over 1.5 million people globally and expanding rapidly into healthcare through platforms such as Amazon Pharmacy, One Medical, and Amazon Clinic. These initiatives combine digital convenience with physical care integration to make healthcare more efficient and accessible. The rollout of kiosks in Los Angeles exemplifies its broader healthcare strategy—using data, logistics, and customer-centered design to modernize how patients access and manage treatment.
